Volunteering Research Project for Under 30’s

Dr Jane Parry, Professor Peter Rodgers are conducting research into the kinds of voluntary work, community activities, and informal work that young people may have been doing during the pandemic. We are particularly interested in how this kind of involvement can be useful in developing skills and building networks used in getting into and progressing in paid work.

We are looking for anyone under 30 to take part in a short interview with us over Microsoft Teams, or in person if you would be more comfortable with this. The interviews will take no longer than an hour.

We are looking to try recruit any young people around Southampton who might be willing to talk about their lockdown experiences of volunteering, unpaid work, and any other informal activities. They would get a £20 amazon voucher for taking part in a short interview with us!

We hope to be able to use this information to develop outputs like a virtual exhibition or employability materials and will work with third sector organisations to ensure that they will provide a valuable resource for young people.

If you are interested, please email either Tom Field at tf3g17@soton.ac.uk or Dr Jane Parry at j.parry@soton.ac.uk, so we can organise a time which suits you.
