To all social enterprises in Southampton, you might be interested in the following opportunity that Social Enterprise Link is keen to support:
October Books, a local social enterprise of 40 years standing, has opened up its governance to the community and simultaneously raised sufficient loan finance to purchase a building in Portswood which will act as a a community hub including shared workspace/pop-up space/events space.
They need market research intelligence from community groups, social enterprises, health & wellbeing service providers, freelancers and others within our local community. Could you please share this with potential users of the space.
October Books is an independent, radical, community bookshop run as a not-for-profit co-operative enterprise and has been selling books and providing information, support and literature to the local community for over 40 years.
They are in the process of purchasing the former Nat West bank building on Portswood Broadway which will enable them to create a community hub alongside the bookshop. The hub will comprise of small meeting rooms, small self contained units, shared work space and a larger meeting room which will all be available for use by community groups, social enterprises, health & wellbeing service providers, freelancers, education providers and others within our local community.
To ensure the new hub will be sustainable they are seeking information from groups and organisations about their usage and hire of spaces like this, and whether or not they would be interested in using the new community hub.
