IT Grants for Smaller Groups

Some good news to start the year with money attached ……!

Following SVS surveys into sector needs during COVID 19 initial phases and then ongoing discussions with SCCCG about the need for IT upgrades within the voluntary sector required to support and enhance new models of working in response to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic SVS has successfully secured £100k CCG funding for investment in the sector.

Initially funding has been used to support key organisations input and delivery in the city wide emergency arrangements as well as being an investment in future sustainability in the new business normal going forward.

We now have £20k to distribute in small grants to local groups which have also faced additional unexpected costs to upgrade their IT or digital offer during the pandemic.

If your organisation has spent £350 or above on new IT or digital tools , eg upgrade laptops, Zoom licences, website design or updates then you can apply for a small grant to help offset some of your costs.

You will need to provide copies of invoices or receipts for any items purchased during the period from 23rd March to 30th Nov 2020 to be eligible. We will take these as evidence that you saw this as a priority need to invest scarce resources in this way.

In order to speed up distribution, rather than ask you for lots of detailed information on an application form and then going through a convoluted assessment process trying to work out which group has greater need than another, we will accept that any organisation which has spent their funds in this way saw it as important to them.

All qualifying organisations will therefore be entered into a draw for the grants to be awarded as follows –

12 x grants of £250 towards reimbursal of costs for groups which have spent between £350 – £750 on IT upgrades/ digital tools eg Zoom licences to be drawn by lot.

12 x grants of £500 towards reimbursal of costs for groups which have spent between £750 – £1250 on IT upgrades/ digital tools eg Zoom licences to be drawn by lot.

11 x grants of £1000 towards reimbursal of costs for groups which have spent £1250 or more on IT upgrades/ digital tools eg Zoom licences to be drawn by lot..

We will allocate the smallest grants first and roll up any under allocations into the next pot. We will use evidence of the number of applications received to have further discussion with the CCG about future sector needs around this alongside 2 other strands of activity for which SVS is also pursuing additional resources and initiatives to address digital exclusion (the SO: Linked Lets Connect digital connection project currently being piloted in SO18 and Mansbridge) and in sector skills upgrades to move to greater use of online digital platforms and delivery routes through a collective CVS network bid of which SVS is a part
