Inequality Matters

Wednesday 5 December 7.15pm

Southampton Solent University

The Spark, East Park Terrace, Southampton SO14 0YN

As the gap between the richest and poorest continues to widen, there is growing realisation that this issue, alongside global warming, is already having a widespread detrimental impact. Turning this trend to avoid catastrophe requires collective changes at cultural, social and political levels.

This evening provides an opportunity for anyone concerned about equal opportunities to hear from two eminent speakers; to discuss what needs to be done and to network with others of like mind.

Professor Richard Wilkinson, joint author with Kate Pickett of The Spirit Level, will talk about their new book: ‘The Inner Level – How more equal societies reduce stress, restore sanity and improve everybody’s wellbeing’

Roger Brown, former Vice Chancellor of Southampton Solent University, will talk about his recent book: ‘The Inequality Crisis – The facts and what we can do about it’

Ros Cassy, former chair of Solent Mind, will chair the Q & A and discussion.
