Get involved in Giving Thanks, Free Training Social Media Videos!
Get involved in Giving Thanks, get some great free training in creating social media videos!
We want local charities and grassroots community organisations to get involved in
Giving Thanks as part of the city’s Mayflower 400 programme. Working with partners Southampton Voluntary Services, we have recruited the help of Veronica Gordon from Our Version Media CIC to help you do just that.
We have a free two-part training opportunity for 10 people, led by Our Version Media CIC, to help you make great video content for social media. This will include
storytelling, taking and choosing the best shots, through to how to raise the visibility
of your work through social media.
Veronica will also give you some on-going support to make a Giving Thanks video (between 1 – 3 minutes) which best showcases your organisation. When it is all
done and posted, and we have received your short evaluation form, you will receive
a £150 donation for your organisation.
The training will take place online early in January 2021 and the final videos must be
posted before 7 February 2021.
The opportunity is for constituted organisations only with a stand-alone bank
account. You must be based in Southampton. All donations will be managed through
Southampton Voluntary Services – their standard grant conditions apply.
If you would like to be considered for this programme all you need to do is send an
email to Mayflower400@southampton.org.uk before December 21st telling us:
1) The name of your organisation and in approximately 50 words, what it does;
2) Up to 200 words on what your Giving Thanks video will likely be about. For example that could be what are you grateful for, how you give thanks, how
you encourage your community to give thanks, are there any giving thanks
traditions in your culture that you’d like to share with others?;
3) Include your company registration or your charity number. You must attach a
copy of your constitution.
If you would like some ideas to inspire you, look at the Giving Thanks activity pack
You will find out more about the project there too.
The 10 organisations will be selected by a panel of Mayflower 400 and Southampton
Voluntary Services team members.
