First Friday Forum – 11th January 2019
The next First Friday Forum will be held at SVS on January 11th 9.30 – 12.15. To kick off the new year we’ll be taking a future focused look at technology, and how it can assist the sector. First up is a project designed to make computing more affordable and help tackle the digital divide. Gavin Rabeiro will be showing how a simple computing system, Raberry Pi, can help people access the world of digital at very low cost. Next we’ll hearing from Martin Reid, course leader in digital computing at Solent University, about a future project for students to get real world learning by developing digital solutions for local voluntary and community organisations. SVS have been working hard behind the scenes to further develop our website to benefit both our membership and the public with a enhanced volunteering brokerage system, Ben Grace and Roccio Cortez Cruz will be showcasing this new system and we are keen to hear your feedback. Finally, InLink’s Mathew Trigg, will be explaining opportunities for the sector to use the new InLInk digital points, which are replacing some phone boxes in the city, to raise awareness of their organisations’ activities.
