A connected society: a strategy for tackling loneliness
A connected society: a strategy for tackling loneliness – laying the foundations for change’, was published by the Govt on 15 October 2018, and is the first strategy for tackling loneliness in England. It marks a shift in the way we see and act on loneliness, both within government and across society. It builds on years of work by many individuals and organisations, and acts as government’s first major contribution to the national conversation on loneliness and the importance of social connections .This strategy is an important first step, but government is also committed to long-lasting action to tackle the problem of loneliness.
SCC Scrutiny Committee has also looked at issues around Loneliness and its report can be found on SCC website. http://www.southampton.gov.uk/images/combating-loneliness-in-southampton-draft_tcm63-393674.pdf – 2018-05-29 so check them out and see how your voluntary group can link in to help make a difference.
