We are recruiting a Harmful Cultural Practices (HCP) Worker to be part of our Diversity & Inclusion Service Team based in Southampton
18.75 hours per week – fixed term 12 months contract
(possible extension, subject to further funding)
£22,396 – £27,631 pro rata
(Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience)
We are seeking a flexible and highly motivated practitioner who share our values and passion for delivering the best services we can to those at risk from or impacted by domestic and sexual abuse.
The Harmful Cultural Practices (HCP) Worker will:
- Support HCP prevention & improve citywide awareness, identification & response to HCP encompassing Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting, Forced Marriage, so-called Honour Based Violence and Child Abuse linked to Faith or Belief.
- Consult, develop and strengthen partnerships with services & community organisations likely to encounter those perpetrating/at risk from HCP.
- Take a collaborative approach to negotiating the challenges we collectively face in protecting the health & safety of our communities while ensuring respect for and sensitivity to culture, tradition and belief.
- need to show a commitment to meeting the needs of people from diverse communities and have experience of supporting women, men or children who have been subject to domestic/ sexual abuse or those affected by HCP, with the ability to manage a caseload and work within a multi-agency setting keeping the client at the centre of the work.
