DWP has launched a new website to help people understand what Universal Credit means for them. It has been created in response to requests from customers and partner organisations for more information about Universal Credit. (see link below)
- This site provides our customers with much needed support to direct them to claim the right benefit, whether that is Universal Credit or one of our other existing benefits.
- With clear content and easy to follow navigation, the site will be a valuable source of information for both customers and organisations. It will also support Jobcentre Work Coach colleagues as they can signpost customers to the site to answer their UC questions and other useful online information, such as the Citizens Advice eligibility checker and the Money Advice Service’s guide to bank accounts.
- Customers should still continue to claim Universal Credit at www.gov.uk/universal-credit. There are links to this page and support for how to fill out the claim on the new Understanding Universal Credit website.
- A number of other improvements are happening within UC and this site enables customers to understand what the changes mean for them. It already includes information about changes to advance payments, Freephone numbers and the end of live service claims. The site will be updated with the removal of waiting days when that change is introduced on 14 February.
