What is Southampton Connect ?

Southampton Connect is the overarching Strategic partnership body in the city replacing previous Local Strategic Partnership arrangement from 1st April 2011.  Initially chaired by SCC Chief Executive, then by Jo Ash from SVS for 2 years chairing has reverted back to SCC from 7th August 2014 with Sue Leamore from University Hospital Southampton trust as Vice chair.

Southampton Connect has senior level representation from key agencies and sectors covering private, public and voluntary sectors. It has recently revised the city strategy with a key goal of Prosperity for All which sets out key priorities and cross cutting themes with a Vision for Southampton 2020 under the banner of a city of growth and opportunity where everyone thrives.

The 3 priorities are Economic Growth with Social Responsibility, Skills and Employment and Healthier and Safer Communities. Several cross cutting themes have also been prioritised including Fostering City pride, passion and identity; Building community capacity , Improving mental health ; Tackling Poverty and inequality ; Research, development and innovation.
