On Monday 19th Feb SVS marks the anniversary of our formal inauguration as Southampton Council of Social Service Organisations in 1968 and we are holding a celebration event at the Voluntary Action Centre 1pm – 4pm to mark the occasion.

As we reflect on half a decade of service in the city and look forward to our next phase of activity we are delighted that Sir Stuart Etherington, CEO of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations and Matt Hyde, CEO of the Scout Association will be joining us to speak on the themes of Voluntary Services Past, Present & Future followed by a question time panel and refreshments.

All SVS member organisations should have received an invitation with details of the Eventbrite link, please use this to book your place as spaces are limited, if you don’t have internet connectivity please call our admin team on 02380228291 between 9.30 – 2.00pm and asking them to do so for you.

If you are unable to join us for the whole afternoon then do please come and join us for some friendly networking and reminiscences over coffee and cake from 4.15pm – 6.30pm onwards. We shall have some displays and old photos on show so will look forward to seeing you and hearing your recollections of being involved with us at any time over the last 50 years. Again, please do book for this on the Eventbrite link detailed in the invitation, so that we know how many visitors to cater for.

We hope this occasion will be an opportunity to reflect on our strong roots and past achievements but also to launch a forward focus on celebrating the positive part played by volunteers and voluntary organisations in the city – SO:Good:50 – during the coming year. Do join us and together let’s look forward to the next 50 years.
