Funder Finder
SVS has a database of over 4,500 funders.  The database is called FunderFinder and prompts grant-seekers to describe themselves and the work they are looking to fund in terms which can be matched with the criteria used by funders. To book a session on the Funder Finder database call SVS on 023 8022 8291.  We do not charge for this service and a member of the Voluntary Sector Support Team will be on hand to guide you through the process.

Big Lottery Fund

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the launch of our People's Millions programme which is now in its fourth year.
Five awards of up to £50,000 will be up for grabs in each of ITV’s 18 regions – a total of 90 awards across the UK and a potential quarter of a million pounds for each region for projects that improve and enrich communities.

Organisations across the regions have until 15 May to enter, and our final project shortlist will be announced on 29 October. The People’s Millions contest will be televised on ITV from 24-28 November and the public in each region will vote for the winners.

Since the People’s Millions contest began four years ago, a total of £13.6m has been awarded to 229 community projects and more than 1.1 million people across the UK have taken the opportunity to vote for the project they want to receive Lottery good cause funding.

For information on this programme and to find out how to get hold of an application pack, please call the Big Advice Line on 08454 10 20 30 or visit our website at www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/peoples_millions

Funding Bulletin

BIG Lottery programmes.  Feedback from the BIG Lottery is that groups are unsuccessful in their application because

The biggest reason for groups failing in their application is they do not clearly outline the outcomes for their project

The next biggest reason is they do not successfully evidence the needs for their project

Groups also fail because the money they apply for does not match what they say they are going to do- volunteering costs are under estimated, pensions are ignored, depreciation left out.  Recruitment, supplies, health and safety, maternity and redundancy are also underestimated.  Stationary is over estimated.

Groups also fail because the grant is oversubscribed
