Southampton’s Compact
How the voluntary and community sector and the
public organisations will work together
Work has been going on to draw up an agreement between the public sector bodies and the voluntary and community sector in Southampton. This agreement, or Compact, will be an important guide for how we all relate and work together. As well as the main Compact agreement, 5 Codes of Practice have been written to cover specific areas like volunteering and black and minority ethnic groups.
The Compact and five codes were agreed at the Southampton Partnership meeting held on 29th November 2005. The Compact Steering group is now working to get the compact more widely known and supported across Southampton.
