Southampton Voluntary Services is the umbrella organisation for the local voluntary sector providing independent voice and support as well as managing a variety of special projects.

SHOPMOBILITY

CASUAL/PART TIME BANK WORKERS

£6.10 per hour

Since 1998 The Shopmobility scheme has provided wheelchairs and scooters for anyone who has either permanent or temporary limited mobility, allowing them greater independence to use the shopping business areas in the city centre.

As a bank worker you will be employed by Southampton Voluntary Services to cover times when staff are not available at Shopmobility.  This could be planned holiday cover or at short notice to cover staff sickness or busy periods.  The successful candidates will ideally have to have an understanding of the difficulties experienced by people with disabilities and knowledge of good customer service. You will however need to be physically able to provide some assistance to users of the service and the ability to handle wheelchairs and other equipment used by Shopmobility.

If you would like to discuss the position informally please contact Sarah Duncalfe on Tel: 02380 236003

The Shopmobility office is operational Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 5.00pm.  Services operate on occasional Sunday and late nights for special occasions and City events.

Volunteers Wanted

City Central Football Club is a progressive football project based in the Inner city area of Southampton.  The club is an active partner in the Racism Just Ain’t Saintly campaign thus having a close relationship with Southampton Football Club.  The project focuses on encouraging people from black minority ethnic communities to participate in competitive football.

As well as offering qualified football coaching to the all the young children with whom we work the project focuses on promoting good behaviour, respect and discipline for young people that normally don’t have this opportunity.  Football can play a powerful role in brining people from all communities together and the football club has successfully recruited people from all walks of life.

We are actively seeking the support of volunteers to undertake coaching and administrative duties to help deliver a number of tasks that are integral for the project to continue to operate effectively.  The club will support your development within your specific role by funding all relevant courses.  If you would like to become involved with an extremely worthwhile project then please email jbhatti@saintsfc.co.uk
